25 years later… the legacy still speaks. ♦️

Last night, The Northside Alumni Association proudly hosted the Omicron Iota 25th Anniversary Gala celebrating 25 years of brotherhood, resilience, leadership, and legacy.

From honoring the charter lines and alumni who helped build the foundation, to recognizing the undergraduate brothers carrying the legacy forward, the night reflected what Omicron Iota truly represents.

Seeing brothers from different eras together in one room was a reminder that OI has always been about legacy, sacrifice, and commitment to something bigger than ourselves.

One of the most meaningful moments of the evening was introducing the inaugural Demetrius M. Smith Legacy & Achievement Award honoring both legacy and the future of excellence within this chapter.

25 years down. The story continues.

The Northside Alumni Association was in attendance at SPSU Homecoming as KSU continues the tradition of honoring the legacy of Southern Polytechnic State University. During our visit, we toured the new I-STEM building and were introduced to KSU’s new AI Bachelor’s and Graduate programs—exciting to see the campus continuing to evolve and prepare students for the future of technology and innovation.

In early 2000, Brothers Patrick Shelton and Demetrius Smith led the charge to bring Kappa Alpha Psi to Kennesaw State University. Their efforts sparked the Spring 2000 line — The Kommission — four pioneers who laid the foundation for what would become the Omicron Iota Chapter. Officially chartered on May 18, 2001, the vision became a legacy. 119 brothers later, that legacy continues. ♦️
